Job Title: SPECIAL EVENTS ORGANIZER (Canada Summer Jobs)

Cortes Community Radio is hiring a SPECIAL EVENTS ORGANIZER to support summer programming, live events, and outreach. This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program and offers hands-on experience in community broadcasting and event production. The position pays $28 per hour, 32 hours per week, for 12 weeks Starting End of MAY/ Early JUNE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support live concerts and events at Village Commons, Love Fest and other venues (availability to work some evenings and weekends)
  • Coordinate and staff the FRIDAY market merchandise table, including setup, sales, inventory tracking, and public engagement
  • Contribute to communications, outreach, and promotion of events and programming
  • Provide general support during live broadcasts and special programming

Supervision & Training:

The employee will be supervised by the Station Manager and event leads, with regular check-ins and clear task planning. Training will be provided in:

  • Live event production and basic sound technology
  • Community radio operations and broadcasting
  • Event coordination and logistics
  • Public engagement, marketing, and communications

Qualifications:

  • Interest in music, media, events, or community arts
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable assisting with physical setup (lifting equipment, working outdoors)

Applicants must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
